Circle of Stones, Circles of Stars

Cork Astronomy Club logo
Cork Astronomy Club is coming to Ahakista to explore the relationship between landscape and the stars on the Sheep’s Head peninsula.
Ahakista is home to a stone circle and Stanley Murphy will explore the meaning and stories that lie behind these magnificent monuments which are scattered across West Cork’s landscape from Kealkill to Drombeg.

Then Eddy Lyons will tell us more about the skies above us. Our dark skies make the Sheep’s Head peninsula a wonderful spot for stargazing, and Eddie will help us figure out exactly what we should be looking for when we look up from this beautiful coastline.

Do bring binoculars if you have them!

This event is a perfect one to pair with a visit to the Rock Art exhibition running at Bantry’s Organico (Monday 20th-27th March).

Date: Saturday 25th March, 7-8pm talk followed by star-gazing to around 9pm.
Location: The Cabin, Ahakista (next to Arundel’s By the Pier).
